(Controlled Designation of Origin) is a wine of southern Italy's Campania region. A wine made exclusively by Asprinio grapes of “Alberata”. Introduced in July 1993, the title exclusively covers white wines made from the Asprinio grape variety. The word Asprinio is a variant of the Italian word “aspro” which means “sour” due to the high acidity.
